What a "researched fee range" actually is

It is the most easily faked number on any directory in this category, so here is exactly what it is and is not.

It is a range for a tier of gym in a size of city, compiled from membership pricing that gyms and national chains publish themselves — boards, websites, published plans — grouped into four city bands (metro, large city, mid-size city, smaller city) and three tiers (budget neighbourhood, mid-range independent, premium or national chain). It was last reviewed July 2026.

It is not a quote, an offer, a scraped price list, or a statement about any business named on this site. Not one gym anywhere on GymFinder has a price attached to it, and none ever will, because the moment a directory prints a price against a name it has to keep that price true — and it cannot.

Only the monthly range is researched. Quarterly, half-yearly and annual figures are derived from it by fixed multipliers reflecting the discounts Indian gyms most commonly advertise for paying upfront. The multipliers are printed under every table so the arithmetic can be redone and argued with:

monthly range  = researched band range for (city band x gym tier)
quarterly      = monthly x 2.7      half-yearly = monthly x 4.8
annual         = monthly x 8.4      per-month-on-annual = annual / 12

Where it is weakest. The bands are broad, and a gym in a premium pocket of a mid-size city can price like a metro gym. Advertised pricing in India is the start of a negotiation rather than the end of one, so the real number paid is often below the range. And fees drift upward: a table reviewed July 2026 will be optimistic within a year, which is why the review month is printed on every table rather than buried here.

What happens when the data conflicts

Open data conflicts constantly, and the resolution rule matters more than any single figure. These are the rules this site follows, in order.

1. A venue's facts come from the map, and only the map. If a reader tells us a phone number and OpenStreetMap holds a different one, the page does not quietly switch. The correction is made at source in OpenStreetMap, and the next refresh carries it here — which fixes it for every map and app built on that data, not just this one.
2. Where two tags disagree with each other, the field is emptied. A venue tagged both women-only and open to all is not resolved by picking the more useful answer; the claim is dropped and the em dash stands.
3. A venue can be more than one thing. A gym that also teaches yoga appears on both type sheets. Forcing a single category would be tidier and less true.
4. Closure reports beat everything. A venue reported closed is removed rather than left to rot, even though the map may still carry it, because a listing for a shut gym is the one failure that wastes a reader's afternoon.
5. Fee research never overrides a venue. The two data sets are kept apart on purpose: a researched band range is never presented as a venue's price, and a venue's page can never be used to imply one.

The lines this site will not cross

• No paid placement, in any form. No featured listing, no sponsored row, no priority in a sheet, no removal for money. There is nothing to buy, which is why there is no rate card to publish.
• No scraped data. Open data or nothing — not because scraping is hard, but because a directory built on someone else's data is one takedown from disappearing.
• No ratings or reviews. There is no honest source for them here, so there are none. A fabricated star rating is the most common lie in this category.
• No price against a named gym. Not one, anywhere.
• No page that exists only to match a search phrase. A locality with two mapped venues does not get a page.
